Upon successful course completion, students receive an American Heart Association certification card valid for two years. This combination course satisfies OSHA requirements and the First Aid and CPR requirements for child care providers in the State of Maryland. Use of a barrier device to prevent contamination during rescue breathing is also addressed.

Skills focus on keeping the rescuer safe, while providing life-saving assistance to patients of all ages in a variety of scenarios. The Clinical Education Center (CEC) is located in the basement area, across from the cafeteria. Obtain the Student Manual from Adele Hudak in the Clinical Education Center at FMH. Access to these tests can be found on Page ii in the Student Manual. Prior to class, students must: 1) Take and pass (70% score) the ACLS online Pre-Course Self-Assessment tests and 2) Print and bring their scores to class.
